Nothing worth haviing comes easy.............

But when something wonderful happens that you have been working towards it is the most amazing feeling.

What is this you may ask? Well my six monthly scan results are in and they are clear!!!!!!!!!! I am blown away by this as this means that I have been cancer free for 12 months - yes 12 months! At times I never thought that this would ever happen. My clear scan 6 months ago was great news as it was the first scan that I had which showed as disease free. But part of me though that this might be a blip as any tumours were too small to show up on the scan.  Then my blood test 3 months ago showed a good result. But now another disease free scan and a blood test result that is lower than 3 months ago.  So happy! This is the best news.

My regime that I have developed is working - I need to make sure that I now climb back on the waggon after some wayward behaviour over the summer. Where did I put that juicer and blender?

What a brilliant summer we have had!

Listening - do we really?

Consider for a moment the last time you truly felt heard. What a gift it is when another person is truly present, hearing our words as well as receiving all the unspoken messages we send through our energy, body, and nonverbal communication. Listening is a form of mindful attention that brings us fully into the present moment, where miracles can unfold in our relationships and in every area of our lives.

How often when you are listening to someone you are thinking of your response or what happened to you or being distracted by something happening in the background such as someone walking by.

When you really listen with all your body you make a true connection. This is a gift that you can give that costs you nothing. And you will be repaid with the possibility of someone listening to you.

This struck a cord with me today when I was practicing a guided meditation - and today I am really going to listen.

And this video sort of says it all - "you should have known" - do we? Not always and is it because we do not really listen?

The importance of being in the moment

We all regularly forget - enjoy the moment we won't get it back. The past and the future are all in our mind. All we are experiencing is the now so let's not it pas unnoticed. So enjoy this moment and not some other moment we have experienced or wishing we wewre somewhere else!

And finally for today - a quote.....

                             Sums it up!!!

A deluge of posts today - Daft Punk & Bruno Mars

Just had to share two songs that I am really enjoying this summer. Every time these songs are played on the radio or on my Ipod my mood immediately lifts and I just have to sing along and if I am at home then have a boogie (that last word shows my age) !

Bruno Mars - "Locked out of Heaven"

and then .......

Daft Punk - Get Lucky

or as Danny my American friend calls it "up all night to pee pee"!

Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Patricia Peat on the importance of integratrative cancer treatments

A very inspirational lady Verity Sewell recently posted this on Facebook and it really resonates with the way that I think  - "Its not important to integrate cancer treatments, it's essential -If you or someone you knows has cancer please take 15 minutes to watch this interview with Patricia Peat of Cancer Options

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nheMl4vfyaU

If you are interested in leading a more healthy life, without sacrificing taste and pleasure, then do click on Verity's website - http://www.verityslifestyle.com.

Verity was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in her bones in August 2010 (just before her daughter’s first birthday) at the age of 37.  As she explains on her website, it became apparent to her that although many people diagnosed with this illness investigate a (W)holistic approach,  of which food is one, many struggled with how to integrate or change their eating habits, not surprising perhaps as there are so many things to become “expert” at when diagnosed with a chronic disease.

Verity has completely changed her approach to food and along with the more traditional medical procedures, such as chemotherapy, she attributes her ongoing recovery to adapting her diet.  In fact, her whole life, and that of her family is now as chemical free as possible!  The results are clear to see and not only Verity, but all her family, have increased energy and vitality. Before you start to feel sorry for her that she no longer eats what she wants – the adaptation of her diet has led to meals that are not only good for you, but packed full of flavour.

As well as adapting her diet she also practises EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), Pilates, some Meditation, Reiki, Acupuncture and Massage as well as daily walks.   This way of taking back control of her life and her recovery has prompted her to inspire more people to change their eating habits, whether they have a chronic disease or not, and also to use her site to help raise money for charity.

Open Air Mamma Mia Film and an Anniversary run in the London Olympic Stadium.

Something that I have never experienced before in the UK attending an open air cinema. It's success is based on the weather and as we had a good forecast for the evening of the 20th July an impromptu decision to go to Ascot Racecourse to see the Luna Cinema's showing of Mamma Mia. The weather stayed dry even if it was a bit windy. I had forgotten how badly Pierce Brosnan sang!

The big screen! Sound was very good.

The next day (Sunday 21 July) Neil was running in the The National Lottery Anniversary Run, which is the the first sporting event to take part in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park since the Paralympic Games closing ceremony last year.

The five-mile route took in iconic venues across Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, ending with a 300m run on track to the finish line. I was able to go and sit in the Stadium and enjoy the event from the stands.
